The Pioneers of Mexican Hip Hop in New YoRK
The pioneers of Mexican Hip Hop in
New York, Hispanos Causando Paniko is a group that never forgets their roots.
Taking their name from Latino Hip Hop groundbreaker Kid Frost’s debut album,
HCP represent the new voice of the immigrant struggle happening right now on
New York’s Streets, while their Spanish language lyrics are a sign of Hip Hop’s
future. HCP not only refuses to shy away from subjects other artists are afraid
to talk about, they blend their thoughtful, tight lyrics with a classic New
York sound inspired by the beats of Big Pun and Wu-Tang.
Made up of three MCs, songwriters and producers – Meck, Nemesis & Demente – HCP has performed from NYC to LA, opening for bands such as Kinto Sol, Awkid, Delinquent Habits and Jae P. This triple threat has not only made hit songs, but their unique MC styles have brought the crowd to its feet in such well-known venues as SOB’s, Bowery Poetry Club and D’Antigua. Their fans follow them from as far away as Mexico City and Russia and their socially conscious message has even taken them to Fordham University and Lehman College for presentations and performances.
Formed in Corona, Queens, HCP independently sold 15,000 units of their mixtape in 2007 and 2008 and are currently in the final stages of completing their debut album. A culmination of years of work and editing, the upcoming “De Las Calles, Para Las Calles” reflects the emergence of an important new voice and sound in Hip Hop.
